UUPCC 2008 Congregational PilgrimagesThis is a partial working list of congregational groups who have settled on dates and itineraries. Room on these trips is limited and offered on a space available basis with the consent of the organizers. All of these trips have a varying number of days programed with their respective partner congregations. If you are member of a congregation with a partner in Transylvania we will arrange for you to go to your partners during that time and provide you with an interpreter should one be needed. If you are interested in one or more of these pilgrimages please email jdaleuupcc@yahoo.com for a detailed itinerary and cost information. If there is room for you we will provide you with the link to the registration site for your desired itinerary. Ann Arbor Pilgrimage: May 10 - 21. Arrives Budapest and departs from Bucharest. Tours Budapest, Szeged (Hungary), and many of the Unitarian holy places such as Deva, Kolozsvar, Torda & Gyulaferhervar. Partner church is Kezdivasarhely in Southeastern Transylvania near Sepsiszentgyory. Boise Pilgrimage: May 30 - June 7. Arrives and departs from Kolozsvar. Partner church is Meszko just outside of Torda. Village stay on the front end of the tour followed by a trip to Bucovina and the Painted Monasteries. Nebraska Pilgrimage: June 8 - 20. Arrives Bucharest, departs Budapest and visits most of the Unitarian holy places as well as touristed sites in Transylvania. Partner church is Firtosmartonos in Harghita county. Foothills Pilgrimage: June 19 - July 3. Arrives and departs from Budapest. This is a service trip that visits Kolozsvar & Segesvar, but is programmed for a lot of village time in Bethlenszentmiklos. If you were hoping for an extended stay (5 days) in your village this is an opportunity. San Diego Pilgrimage: July 18 - 31. Arrives Bucharest, departs Vienna. Larger group of 15 to 20 people. Partner church is in the city of Brasso. Visits most of the Unitarian holy places. Tours Budapest, Bratislava & Vienna. Lexington, MA Pilgrimage: July 19 - 29. Arrives and departs from Budapest. Itinerary still under construction. Partner church is Szentmihaly just outside of Torda. They will visit Kolozsvar, Meszko, Segesvar & Marosvasarhely. Summit, NJ Musical Pilgrimage: July 31 - August 13. Arrives Bucharest, departs Budapest. Smaller choir group of 15 - 20 people. This is one of the few groups that spends a day/night in Bucharest upon arrival. Singers welcome. Monclair, NJ Pilgrimage: August 2 - 14. Arrives and departs from Kolozsvar. They will visit Maramures and the Painted Monasteries at the outset of their trip and then go to their partner village of Szentabraham which is near Szekelykeresztur. They are planning to go to the annual "Gathering" outside of Szekelyudvarhely. Small group of 5-6. 1000 Oaks & Ventura Pilgrimage: August 2 - 13. Arrives and departs from Budapest. This trip visits most of the Unitarian holy places including Deva. Neither church has a partner, but they will have a village stay somewhere near Kolozsvar. Eastshore Pilgrimage: August 16 - 27. Arrives and departs from Kolozsvar. Visits most of the Unitarian holy places. Their partner is Torockoszentgyorgy which is located on a side road between Gyulaferhervar & Torda. Seattle Pilgrimage: Sept. 23 - Oct. 5. Trip begins in Kolozsvar & ends in Budapest. Visits Marosvasarhely, Segesvar, much of the Szekelyfold, Deva, Szeged (Hungary), and tours Budapest.
