The Doldol Village (Barangay)

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01Years before this place was a Sugar cane farm owned by wealthy families of the Spanish descend. In the middle of the farm land was a giant tree that was called Doldol in the local dialect where eventually the place got its name.

The village Doldol is one of the sixteen villages that compose the Municipality town of Valladolid.

Valladolid is thirty kilo meters south of Bacolod City the Capital of Negros Occidental.

Doldol is located east of Valladolid about seven kilo meters inland. The road that leads to the village is cemented except for some short strips that are gravel.

Most of land is cultivated with rice and a little sugar cane. Farming is the primary source of livelihood and livestock secondary. There are three crops for the season that begins in June and end in March.

In the village there is the community hall, day care center, health center and the library. The basket ball court is a prominent place where those of all ages gather. There are few small convenience stores in the village and a welding shop.

There are two church buildings one of the Roman Catholic and the other of the Unitarian Universalist.

Doldol has a well organized village council and working committees that deal with irrigation and farming problems. There are 140 house holds.

There is no elementary or secondary school in the village. Children walk four kilo meters to school... to the next village. A small percentage finishes collage education.

The big event of the community is the village annual fiesta in the third week of January of the year. Everybody enjoys the festivities with religious observance, Baptisms and Weddings. A lot of food is prepared and shared with visitors during this time. Sport events and variety Shows singing and dancing complete the celebration. Generally people live in a peaceful environment.

Most farmers depend on rich lenders to finance their farming needs and suffer the consequences of these practices.

The Congregation celebrated her 25th anniversary on October 26, 2005.

The place where the chapel stands is about 15 kilometers away from the city. The location is called Purok Out post. Purok means; cluster of house holds in a village.
