Mukhap Church – 300 Unitarians

The village of Mukhap is located one and a half hours north of Jowai, the office of the Unitarian Union of North East India and about three hours from Shillong, the capital city. Mukhap is situated in Jaintia Hills.
Church members have recently completed a new church building due to overcrowding in the old one. They operate a Unitarian upper and lower primary school with approximately 100 students. The school is in relatively good shape as the government pays one of the teachers, and the school qualifies for a mid-day meal program. However, the school building is in need of repairs. Just recently, the school started receiving government help through the SSA program (education for all).
Reverend Sowat Laloo is their minister/ church visitor. Khlanhiwat Lamare is a good outside contact person as he is working in Jowai and is Secretary of the Youth Wing.
