Kut – 29 Unitarians
The church of Kut is in a very beautiful village less than one mile from the village of Puriang (partner church of Fairfax, VA). Puriang is Kut’s sister church and most of the Unitarian children of Kut attend classes four through ten at the Unitarian School of Puriang. As a much larger church, Puriang is there for them when they face difficulties. Church members of Kut have their own church services on Sundays but attend the Puriang church for special ocassions. There is no electricity in their tiny church building.
They run a small Unitarian lower primary school up to class three with 35 students and two teachers. They just received government help, and they will be getting a new school building, latrine, drinking water and some books.
The head teacher, Kordor Sohtun will serve as contact person for the church. Through distance education, he is finishing level 12 and attending school in Shillong, the capital city, on Saturdays. The second teacher is Shringlang Mawthoh who has finished level 12. Both teachers are interested in earning their Bachelors degrees through the distance education program.
