Khyndewso – 125 members
Khyndewso is a remote church community in the Ri Bhoi area of Meghalaya about three hours from Shillong, the state capital. The village has a total population of 189, all farmers, from different faith communities, 75 Catholic families, 55 Presbyterian, 24 Unitarian, 15 Church of God and 20 indigenous Khasi families. Their contact persons are Khlur Mukhim, a college professor who lives in Shillong and Piroy Mynsong, assistant teacher and president of the school managing committee.
They run a small Unitarian school with about 96 students up to class seven. After class seven, those children continuing their education travel 15km by public bus to the closest secondary school. Their dream is for a secondary section for their own school. This school and church community need contact and some financial assistance from an outside partner.
